Freshmen Parking

Parking on campus is very limited, and parking regulations are strictly enforced. A valid University of Arkansas parking permit or hourly payment is required to park in all campus parking areas.
Because parking near residence halls is highly competitive, Resident and Garage permits are only available for a portion of students living on campus. Permit offers are distributed based on the date students signed their housing contract. Freshmen living off-campus have separate options.

Freshmen Permit Offer Process:

  1. Complete New Student Orientation: After completing New Student Orientation, students and parents will receive an email with important information about the permit purchasing process.
  2. Housing Contract Dates Determine Offer Order: All students living on campus are automatically included in the permit offer process once they sign a housing contract. Because of high demand and limited space, signing early does not guarantee a student reserved permit offer.
  3. Permit Offers Are Sent to UARK Email Accounts: Beginning July 13, Parking will send Resident, Relocate and Garage permit offers to students’ UARK email. Check your UARK email daily to avoid missing a permit offer.
  4. Offers Must Be Accepted Within Two Days: Students have until 11:59 p.m. the day after the offer email is sent to purchase the permit offered to them.
  5. Economy Permits Are Available for First-Year Students: Another option is the Economy permit, which allows for remote parking in the economy lot (Lot 500). Economy permits will be available for purchase in late July, and unlike reserved permits, there is not a limited quantity available and you do not need to receive an email offer to purchase it.

The permit purchasing process is based on where you're living. Type in which residence hall or university apartment complex you are contracted with to find the right information for you.

How to Buy a Permit

Not necessarily. With dining options, grocery stores, medical care, and other resources available on campus — along with Razorback Transit service throughout Fayetteville — many students find they can get around without a car. Choosing not to bring a vehicle to campus can also help save money and reduce parking-related inconveniences.
Students needing ADA parking accommodations must first purchase a student parking permit and provide accessibility credentials to the Parking office, either by emailing them to parking@uark.edu or bringing them to the Parking office. ADA permissions will then be added to the permit, allowing parking in all ADA spaces on campus, as well as all green, yellow, and orange parking lots.
The orange economy lot (Lot 500) is available for students to park in when vacating lots is required for certain athletic events.
