Safe Ride and Night Owl Service

Night Owl Route - Monday and Tuesday 10:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

Campus Route - Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 p.m. until 3:00 a.m.

Safe Ride Vans - Wednesday through Saturday 11:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m

The mission of the Safe Ride on campus fixed route program is to provide students with a safe means of transportation from any uncomfortable or inconvenient situation.

Safe Ride operates demand response vans Wednesday through Saturday that can be dispatched to your present location by calling 479-575-SAFE (7233). As an enrolled student, you may access either service free of charge.

Ten Reasons to Ride Safe Ride:

  • An uncomfortable date.
  • Keys are locked in the car.
  • Stranded at an undesirable location.
  • Car trouble.
  • Too tired to drive home.
  • Need a sober ride home.
  • Need a ride from a distant parking lot.
  • Do not wish to walk home in the dark.
  • Accidentally left by your ride home.
  • A safe alternative for any situation or circumstance.

      Guidelines:

      The service area of the Safe Ride program is within the Fayetteville city limits. Only University of Arkansas students and up to three guests will be transported. Students will be taken from any place in the Fayetteville city limits to their residence within the Fayetteville city limits.

      If you have special needs and require a lift equipped vehicle, please notify the dispatcher when you call to request service.

      Individuals creating a disturbance on the bus or who, in the opinion of the driver, are a danger to themselves or others will be reported to the appropriate police department and removed from the bus.

      Passengers who are not at the designated pick up point at the scheduled time will be considered a late show. Passengers who do not arrive at the designated pick up point within five minutes of the scheduled time will be considered a no show. Two late shows will be considered a no show. Three no shows in a 90 day period will be grounds for suspension from the Safe Ride program for 30 days. A second occurrence of three no shows will result in suspension from Safe Ride for 90 days.

      Alcoholic beverages and hazardous materials will not be allowed on the bus. Hazardous materials include but are not limited to gasoline and car batteries. The driver will determine what materials are hazardous.

      Safe Ride is not to be used in lieu of chartering a bus by groups.
